A songwriter, interpreter, and generous live performer.
Douglas Mitchell is an Edmonton-based singer-songwriter and acoustic performer whose work is rooted in the classic singer-songwriter tradition.
Music built on connection.
A professional musician with decades of experience, Douglas brings expressive vocals, thoughtful arrangements, and a strong sense of connection to both original material and familiar songs.
His performances draw from folk, roots, pop, and classic songwriting, with an emphasis on songs that reward close listening.
His original releases include Broken On The Floor (2009), the self-titled VERA album (2014), and three original singles released in 2020. He was nominated for Best Solo Artist at the 2011 Edmonton Music Awards. His collaborative work includes guitar and harmony vocals with Celeigh Cardinal, including the 2025 JUNO Awards In Memoriam presentation, and he created and hosted 75 episodes of Edmonton Unplugged for Shaw TV.
Since establishing a consistent full-song acoustic-performance series in late 2025, Douglas's performances have reached millions of viewers across TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.
Douglas is currently developing Love Me Again, a new six-song EP about disconnection, resilience, and finding a way forward, with recording planned for early 2027. He performs throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area for private events, community gatherings, corporate settings, and listening-room audiences.
